The Soul of La Tureta

A family project where history meets hospitality

La Tureta was born from the desire to give new life to a historic palace in Giubiasco, honoring its identity while shaping a form of hospitality that is contemporary and genuine.
A family project combining architecture, hospitality, and meticulous attention to detail, the restoration has revealed ancient frescoes and architectural elements that tell centuries of history.
Alongside the historic wing, a modern extension, designed according to sustainable principles, harmoniously complements the original building, offering both comfort and elegance.

The Soul of La Tureta

A family vision

La Tureta is the result of a shared project.
Bettina Doninelli, with a long-standing expertise in hospitality, envisioned a guest experience centered on care and attention. By her side, her husband Renato Doninelli, an architect who oversaw the restoration of the palazzo with deep respect for its history and materials, guiding the building back to life.
Today the project is enriched by the presence of their daughter Alessandra, a cellist, whose artistic and cultural sensitivity is felt throughout the atmosphere of the hotel.
A family approach that brings together different talents and has, over time, maintained coherence, identity and a clear vision.

The history of Palazzo Scalabrini

Hotel La Tureta is housed within the historic Palazzo Scalabrini, whose origins date back to the early 17th century. Facing the square of Giubiasco, the building has witnessed centuries of change, revealing a rich layering of history.
During restoration, 19th-century paintings, Liberty-style decorations, coffered wooden ceilings, a period fireplace and the imposing stone vaults of the cellars were brought back to light. Every intervention was guided by careful research and a clear intention: to restore the palazzo to its original identity, respecting its soul.
Where history offered no readable traces, new decorative elements were created in harmonious dialogue with the existing ones. The result is a building that speaks of its past with quiet confidence, without sacrificing modern comfort.

The Soul of La Tureta

Sustainability as a daily choice

La Tureta combines historical heritage and environmental awareness. The restoration project integrated natural materials and eco-building technologies to ensure insulation, comfort, and energy efficiency.

The hotel combines sustainability and comfort, with solar panels, heat pumps, and smart automation systems that regulate temperature and air quality. Water from the Ticino valleys is treated on-site, minimizing transportation and plastic use while ensuring the highest quality for guests.

The kitchen follows the same philosophy: seasonality, regional products, and attention to the supply chain, completing a responsible and concrete approach.
